Water Resources Associate – Review Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough technical evaluations and provide written feedback on flood studies, master planning documents, engineering plans, specifications, and reports related to development projects within regulatory floodplains.

• Ensure that proposed projects adhere to federal, state, and local codes, laws, regulations, specifications, standards, procedures, and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) guidelines.

• Offer technical advice and assistance for FEMA Letter of Map Change (LOMC) applications and amendments.

• Act as a technical intermediary between applicants, project managers, consultants, contractors, and community personnel.

• Identify and address technical, regulatory, and political challenges throughout the review process.

• Oversee workload, track project timelines, and monitor performance metrics.

• Review technical documentation, mapping attachments, tables, and figures to ensure precision and readiness for client presentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is mandatory.

• 0-2 years of experience in hydrologic & hydraulic modeling and mapping, floodplain management, or watershed modeling is preferred.

• EIT certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of employment is required.

• Familiarity with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is advantageous.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

• Capability to serve as a role model among peers and maintain a people- and client-oriented focus.

• A desire for professional growth towards a management role is encouraged.
