Warehouse Operations Excellence Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Africa.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the operating model and site standards for medical warehousing and fulfillment throughout a multi-country network, including SOPs, quality gates, layouts, storage and cold-chain controls, tools, and maturity expectations to facilitate growth from approximately 13 to over 30 sites.

• Establish and oversee network-level performance benchmarks (inventory accuracy, order fill rate, cold-chain compliance, picking/packing cycle time, on-time dispatch) and drive measurable enhancements against these metrics.

• Perform regular field audits, cycle counts, and workflow observations; lead root-cause analysis and ensure verification of corrective actions until all issues are resolved.

• Create repeatable launch and upgrade packages (site layouts, racking, temperature-control design, WMS configurations, SOPs, training) to ensure sites can be deployed and improved in a consistent and rapid manner.

• Convert clinical, regulatory, and product constraints into auditable, operator-executable controls; lead the preparation for regulatory and customer audits and take ownership of corrective action closure.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to define WMS, mobile tools, and automation requirements that alleviate operator burden and significantly enhance throughput and traceability; prioritize fixes based on operational impact.

• Develop and manage performance-management systems, including KPIs, dashboards, operating reviews, escalation paths, and continuous-improvement routines that make issues visible and actionable.

• Mentor and enhance the skills of site leaders and frontline teams to foster local ownership of quality and reliability; act as the senior escalation owner for warehousing incidents that jeopardize fulfillment reliability, compliance, or patient safety.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years leading multi-site warehouse, fulfillment, or distribution operations; experience in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, medical devices, or regulated supply chains is essential.

• A proven history of scaling standardized operating models across multiple sites or countries with measurable improvements in inventory accuracy, fill rate, throughput, or cold-chain compliance.

• Extensive, practical knowledge of inventory control, cycle counting, reconciliation, WMS configuration and integrations, traceability, and cold-chain handling; possessing a pharmaceutical license is a significant advantage.

• Experience in specifying or implementing WMS/technology and the discernment to differentiate between operational fixes and technical fixes.

• Direct experience collaborating with pharmacy, quality, or regulatory partners to translate compliance requirements into frontline-executable controls and audit-ready documentation.

• Demonstrated capability in continuous improvement (root-cause analysis, Lean/Six Sigma tools) with examples illustrating operational impact delivered.

• Clear evidence of ownership: led cross-functional rollouts, addressed major operational failures, or managed network-level performance outcomes.

• Strong attention to detail, systems thinking, and a readiness to operate in active environments to validate solutions.

• Willingness to spend up to 50% of time in the field, including extended visits across multiple African countries; comfortable navigating across different time zones and cultures.
