VP, Responsible AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Take charge of Sedgwick's enterprise Responsible AI and AI Governance strategy, including the operating model, roadmap, and maturity advancement.

• Act as the executive business owner for both the Credo governance platform and the OpenLayer platform.

• Oversee vendor relationships, platform adoption, workflows, risk frameworks, controls, reporting, audits, renewals, and strategic guidance.

• Create and uphold Sedgwick's Responsible AI framework in alignment with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.

• Manage enterprise AI inventories, use cases, model and agent registries, as well as the AI risk register.

• Establish methodologies for AI risk-tiering and approval processes.

• Design and implement automated workflows for AI governance that encompass intake, classification, policy assignment, routing, approvals, monitoring, and evidence generation.

• Integrate governance controls into AI development, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows.

• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Risk, Security, Internal Audit, Technology, Data, and business leadership teams.

• Develop AI control frameworks and manage compliance documentation, audit preparedness, control testing, and governance reporting.

• Tackle issues related to bias, privacy, explainability, transparency, security, robustness, hallucination risk, model drift, and human oversight.

• Lead initiatives for AI incidents, exceptions, waivers, and remediation strategies.

• Create governance KPIs, KRIs, scorecards, and executive dashboards.

• Supervise pre-deployment assessments and runtime monitoring via OpenLayer.

• Build and manage cross-functional teams and councils focused on Responsible AI and AI Governance.

• Influence executives, regulators, clients, auditors, and technology partners effectively.

• Offer strategic leadership, coaching, talent development, succession planning, and resource management.

• Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and professional growth of team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, or Data Engineering.

• A minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive leadership experience in areas such as computer science, artificial intelligence, data engineering, technology governance, risk management, compliance, or related fields.

• Extensive experience leading enterprise-level AI governance, responsible AI initiatives, model risk management, data governance, technology risk, or digital transformation projects.

• Proven track record in developing and operationalizing governance frameworks, control models, risk-tiering methodologies, policy standards, approval processes, and compliance monitoring systems.

• Familiarity with AI/ML systems, generative AI, foundational models, copilots, agents, automation workflows, model registries, AI inventories, and third-party AI solutions.

• Experience in implementing or overseeing governance, risk, compliance, observability, model monitoring, evaluation, or AI control platforms.

• Strong ability to collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Risk, Security, Internal Audit, Technology, Data, and business leadership.

• Experience in preparing for audits, regulatory assessments, client inquiries, control testing, evidence gathering, governance reporting, and executive-level risk evaluations.

• Background in leading cross-functional teams, executive governance councils, committees, or enterprise-wide transformation efforts.

• Preferred experience in managing vendor relationships, technology platforms, product roadmaps, contract renewals, and strategic partnerships.

• Preferred experience in a highly regulated industry or a complex global enterprise environment.

• A Master's degree is preferred.
