VP, Platform Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of architects and scrum teams that includes architects, software engineering, and quality engineering professionals located in the US and India, while also overseeing one-time investment projects with offshore scrum teams.

• Oversee a research and development organization utilizing modern Event-based architectures deployed in Azure, leveraging technologies such as C#, SQL, COSMOS, and various Azure PaaS offerings.

• Develop and enhance the organization’s architecture strategy, principles, standards, and reference patterns applicable to product and platform teams.

• Guarantee architectural oversight concerning modernization, Azure adoption, data center technologies, integration, data management, security, scalability, and resiliency choices.

• Optimize the use of AI tools within teams to expedite delivery, measuring productivity increases and their connection to accelerated business goals.

• Operate within a large technology organization consisting of over 600 personnel utilizing the SAFe framework.

• Act as an involved executive technology leader who cultivates engineering and architecture leaders, directs critical technical decisions, and ensures that architectural strategies align with product, platform, security, and operational objectives.

• Establish direction and ensure executive accountability for essential platform capabilities—including CIAM, the enterprise data lakehouse, and shared data services—while aligning their roadmaps, reliability, security, and investment with product and business priorities.

• Manage human resources for development team members, encompassing hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, improvement plans, and the overall enhancement of team skills.

• Collaborate effectively with architects, product managers, software development managers, and developers to design and implement the best technical solutions, delivering value to customers promptly without sacrificing software quality.

• Work closely with product management, customers, support organizations, vendors, and other team members to grasp team and product needs.

• Responsible for identifying and assessing key objectives for the team, including DORA metrics and annual goals aligned with the organization's overarching business requirements.

• Advocate for cross-organizational continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on business value through to final implementation.

• Foster team unity and engagement by mentoring, motivating, and guiding team members to achieve results collaboratively through constructive relationships and teamwork.

• Ensure that procedures and processes are thoroughly documented, trained, and followed by development team members.

• Enhance the development teams' skills and modernize practices for swift and high-quality delivery of our solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in a software development leadership role with a strong focus on delivery and engineering excellence.

• Proven experience in deploying applications to public cloud providers, preferably Azure.

• Proficient in constructing cloud-native systems and redesigning as well as modernizing large monolithic solutions.

• Comprehensive understanding of AI capabilities aimed at boosting engineering and quality assurance velocity.

• Knowledge of AI agentic platforms and AI functionalities to improve our products and solutions in the market.

• Skilled in driving software development roadmaps, operational strategies, and managing execution against project plans and delivery commitments within an Agile/Scrum framework.

• Experience in delivering and managing products across both data center and public cloud environments, ideally Azure.

• Familiarity with SCRUM methodologies and a commitment to the principles of agile development and team accountability.

• Demonstrated success in guiding enterprise architecture across both legacy and modern products and shared platforms, including evaluating trade-offs and resolving conflicts across products.

• Knowledge of development best practices, including CI/CD for pull requests, testing, builds, and deployments.

• Experience in healthcare EHR, revenue cycle, or revenue management for acute or ambulatory services.

• Capable of preparing and delivering presentations to senior management and other stakeholders on needs and strategies to achieve consensus, with the ability to simplify complex technical topics for diverse audiences.

• Understanding of emerging regulatory issues (e.g., industry guidelines such as HIPAA and HI-TECH) to develop internal and external checks and controls ensuring proper governance, security, and quality of information assets.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to convey technical information to audiences with varying levels of expertise.
