Staff Software Engineer, Platform – DevEx

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical direction and outline architecture, platform agreements, and long-term design decisions.

• Create and develop the most impactful and ambiguous platform components.

• Evaluate designs and code throughout the team and act as the technical point of escalation.

• Troubleshoot production issues related to pipeline failures, build regressions, infrastructure inconsistencies, and unreliable tests.

• Collaborate with Product, Security, SRE, and domain engineering leaders on the platform roadmap.

• Guide and nurture engineers and engineering managers through code and design reviews, as well as pairing activities.

• Convert organization-wide DevX strategies into a feasible technical roadmap.

• Represent the platform in cross-functional architecture evaluations.

• Take ownership of the technical design for AI-assisted developer tools and coding-agent runtime infrastructure.

• Develop foundational capabilities such as cloud development environments, CI/CD, developer portals, compliance frameworks, velocity monitoring, and AI-native tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10–15+ years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven history of technical leadership in platform, infrastructure, or DevX systems at a large scale.

• Extensive hands-on experience with coding, design reviews, and debugging production systems.

• Proven experience in managing CI/CD pipelines, build systems, internal developer portals, or test automation platforms in production within significant engineering organizations.

• Strong understanding of containerization, Kubernetes/Docker, orchestration, remote caching, and AWS/GCP cloud infrastructure.

• In-depth knowledge of RBAC, secure secrets management, and automated compliance mechanisms.

• Experience in designing environment safety systems.

• Familiarity with DORA metrics.

• Ability to transform vague organizational strategies into a technical roadmap without direct management authority.

• History of enhancing the technical standards through reviews, mentorship, and design leadership.

• Practical experience with coding agent runtimes such as Codex, Copilot, Cursor, or similar technologies.

• Preferred: experience with internal developer platforms, custom build systems, or internal control planes at a multi-hundred-engineer scale.

• Preferred: experience with compliance-sensitive workflows, change management systems, audit trails, or policy engines.

• Preferred: background in SaaS or cloud-native infrastructure.

• Preferred: experience as a technical lead or architect on a platform team without direct reports.

• Preferred: experience with guardrails for autonomous or semi-autonomous coding agents.
