This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Formulate and implement a detailed global government affairs strategy that aligns with corporate goals and growth priorities.
• Establish and nurture relationships with government officials, policymakers, regulators, trade associations, think tanks, and industry coalitions around the globe.
• Act as KLA's representative before legislative and executive branch officials on matters that impact the semiconductor ecosystem.
• Provide guidance to executive leadership and business units regarding emerging policy, geopolitical, and regulatory trends.
• Spearhead advocacy and policy engagement related to export controls, sanctions, foreign investment assessments, and technology transfer regulations.
• Formulate positions and engagement strategies regarding semiconductor restrictions, advanced computing controls, AI-related regulations, and national security initiatives.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and business leaders to navigate regulatory shifts and mitigate business risks.
• Analyze geopolitical developments that influence semiconductor markets, technology competition, and global supply chains.
• Deliver actionable intelligence and strategic insights to senior leadership.
• Assist in business planning by evaluating regulatory, political, and trade-related risks and opportunities.
• Partner with executive leadership, legal, compliance, communications, business development, and regional leadership teams.
• Synchronize external messaging and advocacy initiatives across diverse jurisdictions.
• Oversee external consultants, lobbying firms, and engagements with industry associations.
• Build and cultivate a high-performing global government affairs organization.
• Function as a trusted advisor to executive and business unit leaders on geopolitical, regulatory, trade, and public policy matters.
• Interpret complex policy, export control, national security, and geopolitical developments into business implications and actionable advice.
• Align government affairs strategies with corporate objectives, market expansion strategies, investment choices, and risk management priorities.
• Foster consensus among cross-functional executive teams and influence decision-making on significant policy and regulatory issues.
• Support executive interactions with government officials, industry leaders, customers, and strategic partners.
• Attain effective policy influence, bolster stakeholder credibility, proactively mitigate risks, strengthen executive partnerships, and ensure coordinated global advocacy.
• A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
• An advanced degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Political Science, Law, Economics, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in government affairs, public policy, trade policy, or regulatory affairs is required.
• Extensive experience within the semiconductor, technology, electronics, defense, or advanced manufacturing sectors is necessary.
• Proven expertise in export controls, sanctions, international trade policy, and national security-related regulations is essential.
• Experience in engaging with senior government officials and policymakers across multiple jurisdictions is required.
• A demonstrated ability to influence complex policy outcomes and manage high-stakes regulatory challenges is crucial.
• Familiarity with U.S. Department of Commerce export control frameworks, including EAR regulations, is preferred.
• Awareness of global semiconductor policy initiatives and industrial strategies is advantageous.
• Experience in multinational organizations with global responsibilities is preferred.
• Prior government service, congressional experience, trade association leadership, or regulatory agency experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of semiconductor technology, manufacturing, supply chains, and advanced computing ecosystems is preferred.
• Strategic thinking combined with strong geopolitical awareness is essential.
• Exceptional executive presence and communication skills are necessary.
• Ability to navigate complex and sensitive policy landscapes is required.
• Strong relationship-building and coalition-development skills are imperative.
