This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take ownership of the company-wide financial planning, forecasting, and performance evaluation, including SaaS metrics and operational models.
• Collaborate with leadership to inform investment choices, pricing strategies, and growth initiatives.
• Provide clear and actionable financial insights for executives, board members, and investors.
• Assist in strategic finance tasks such as scenario planning and analysis at the executive level.
• Manage and enhance the month-end close process, ensuring precise and timely reporting across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
• Ensure high-quality financial reporting and variance analysis to aid in decision-making.
• Engage in hands-on accounting tasks as necessary, guaranteeing seamless execution as the team expands.
• Oversee all core accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, treasury, and general ledger management.
• Lead audits, tax submissions, and compliance across various jurisdictions, including SR&ED and international subsidiaries.
• Administer equity management (e.g., Carta), ensuring accurate cap table maintenance and adherence to regulations.
• Enhance internal controls and financial processes to protect company assets and facilitate growth.
• Manage vendor relationships, banking, insurance programs, and external partners such as auditors and consultants.
• Develop and refine systems, tools, and workflows to boost accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.
• Supervise the stock option/equity program and the management of the cap table.
• Utilize Agentic AI to automate essential processes like accounts receivable, month-end close, and financial package preparation.
• Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, establishing high standards for accountability and performance.
• Promote a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and collaboration across functions.
• Proven experience in a venture-backed or rapidly growing SaaS company.
• CPA designation (or equivalent) with over 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
• Early-career background in accounting (e.g., audit, controllership) transitioning into broader finance leadership roles.
• Experience managing both accounting operations and FP&A in a high-growth SaaS or tech setting.
• Strong grasp of SaaS metrics, revenue recognition, and financial best practices.
• Proficient in leveraging AI tools to enhance and streamline financial modeling, reporting, and workflows.
• Comfortable operating as a hands-on leader, stepping into payroll, reporting, or operational functions as necessary.
• Demonstrated capability to build, refine, and scale financial processes and systems.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate intricate financial data into straightforward insights.
