VMware Virtualization Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Manage and enhance the production virtualization infrastructure utilizing VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter).

• Provide support for high-availability virtualization clusters and engage in incident resolution.

• Evaluate and troubleshoot technical challenges related to hypervisor performance, network infrastructure, and storage systems.

• Work with storage solutions employing Fibre Channel and iSCSI.

• Collaborate with the network infrastructure team to ensure the virtualization environment operates effectively.

• Assist in the installation, connectivity, and commissioning of server hardware.

• Operate remote management systems for servers (iDRAC and similar tools).

• Contribute to infrastructure modernization, migration, and testing initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in administering VMware vSphere within a production setting.

• Comprehensive understanding of VMware architecture, encompassing the ESXi scheduler, NUMA architecture, memory management, and storage subsystems.

• Experience with storage systems, including Fibre Channel zoning, multipathing, latency, and performance evaluation.

• Familiarity with networking technologies essential for virtualization functionalities: VLANs, trunks, LACP, MTU/jumbo frames, and fundamental L2/L3 principles.

• Knowledge of KVM virtualization concepts and its architectural distinctions from VMware.

• Experience with enterprise-level server hardware (Dell, Supermicro, or equivalent).

• Proficiency in server remote management systems (iDRAC), covering remote access, firmware upgrades, and basic hardware diagnostics.

• Strong independent troubleshooting abilities and technical problem-solving skills.

• Native proficiency in Russian.
