Visualization and Digital Communication Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Create original visual representations of conflict patterns, themes, and analytical outputs.

• Develop publishable-quality maps, charts, and visuals for all departments within ACLED.

• Address all regions and provide region-specific contributions to both thematic and global outputs.

• Revise and enhance guidelines and directions for ACLED’s data visualizations and visual analyses.

• Innovate and support ACLED’s visual reporting while strengthening its visual brand identity.

• Investigate new data visualization techniques and software to enhance ACLED outputs.

• Collaborate with regional experts to contribute to outputs from the Global Risk Center and External Affairs team.

• Assist the media team in responding to inquiries from journalists.

• Ensure that visualizations correctly utilize and apply the appropriate data and summaries.

• Transform intricate datasets into engaging visual narratives.

• Aid outreach endeavors with media, partners, and external stakeholders in collaboration with External Affairs.

• Engage in internal meetings at ACLED.

• Support the evaluation of the Risk Center and External Affairs brand reputation and influence.

• Provide assistance to Risk Center and External Affairs management as needed.

• Carry out various administrative, coordination, and communication tasks as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in conflict analysis.

• Master’s Degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, Geography, Conflict Studies, or other relevant fields.

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a research-oriented environment.

• Preferred experience working with ACLED data.

• Proven proficiency in Tableau software and GIS.

• Familiarity with other data analysis software and programming languages is advantageous.

• Fluency in English is required.

• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.

• Excellent writing and editing abilities are a plus.

• A keen attention to detail and the capacity to give, receive, and integrate feedback.

• Experience working independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.

• Submission of a CV and cover letter detailing qualifications, experience, and salary expectations.

• At least four samples of previous work, including a data story, map-based data visualization, AI-assisted data investigation and visualization, and either a carousel, interactive timeline, or infographic.
