Visual Studio Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Lead and oversee the design studio team, which includes visual designers, production designers, freelance support, contractors, and vendor partners associated with the client relationship.

• Develop, modify, version, and produce superior visual materials across various platforms including digital, presentations, print, environmental, fabrication, installation, and production applications.

• Appropriately utilize AI tools to enhance design exploration, image and video creation, versioning, content adaptation, production efficiency, and workflow support.

• Act as the primary client liaison and shift lead during assigned coverage periods, managing daily intake, clarifications, prioritization, status updates, escalations, execution, and delivery of requests.

• Take responsibility for shift management within the coverage model, including team scheduling, coordination of time-off, holiday/weekend coverage, backup planning, handoff discipline, coverage gaps, and escalation paths.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in preparing files for print, coordinating with vendors, managing production details, and engaging directly with clients is essential.

• Demonstrated experience in leading or functionally managing designers, production artists, freelancers, contractors, or a small creative studio team is mandatory.

• Direct formal people-management experience is highly preferred.

• Strong preference for experience with shift-based coverage models, client-facing task reporting, intake systems, status tracking, workload balancing, recruiting, onboarding, and creative team operations.

• A Bachelor's degree in Design, Art, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field is preferred.

• Required proven experience in visual design, production design, creative operations, project coordination, studio management, or agency/client-service settings.
