This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Establish and convey a clear vision for visual design across digital experiences for Ford and Lincoln.
• Oversee the development and governance of visual design and motion standards, patterns, and guidelines for Digital Product Design.
• Influence high-impact design projects from initial exploration through prototyping and final delivery.
• Create and direct exemplary work that showcases the expected quality, craftsmanship, and interaction principles.
• Collaborate with UX, product, research, brand, and engineering leaders to tackle design challenges and deliver seamless in-vehicle and off-vehicle experiences.
• Guide teams in the consistent application of visual design and motion principles across various products, contexts, and platforms.
• Work closely with engineering to evaluate feasibility, define implementation strategies, and ensure design intent is maintained throughout development.
• Lead design critiques and reviews while offering constructive feedback.
• Mentor and inspire designers to enhance their visual design and motion capabilities.
• Utilize customer research, competitive insights, and automotive knowledge to steer design direction.
• Present design strategies, concepts, and recommendations to partners and senior stakeholders.
• Enhance design processes, documentation, and handoffs to ensure consistent application at scale.
• A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, interaction design, digital product design, or a related field—or equivalent education and experience.
• Over 8 years of experience in visual design and/or motion for digital products, particularly with complex, consumer-facing experiences.
• A robust portfolio that showcases high-level visual craftsmanship, design systems or languages, and consistent execution across interactive experiences.
• Experience in defining, evolving, and scaling design principles, standards, patterns, or guidelines across products or teams.
• Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, ProtoPie, Adobe Creative Cloud, After Effects, Rive, and/or 3D animation tools.
• Experience leading design efforts across various disciplines and influencing partners without relying solely on formal authority.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain design rationale and foster alignment with diverse stakeholders.
• A collaborative and constructive approach to critique, feedback, and joint problem-solving.
