Video/Streaming Engineer – Part-time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take charge of video, livestream, and player technical implementation throughout the platform.

• Seamlessly integrate the chosen video platform and player within the wider content and delivery framework.

• Execute adaptive bitrate streaming and device-aware playback across both web and mobile platforms.

• Facilitate livestream and breaking-news streaming processes, ensuring failover and resilience requirements are met.

• Deploy clipping and newsroom video-processing capabilities for broadcast clip ingestion and editorial purposes.

• Integrate captions, subtitles, thumbnails, and poster frames into video content.

• Oversee rights management, availability-window controls, and geoblocking obligations.

• Incorporate video advertising and analytics functionalities.

• Implement playback telemetry, error management, and fallback mechanisms.

• Assist with load testing, resilience validation, and major-event readiness evaluations prior to launch.

• Join a greenfield digital news platform initiative for a major international news organization, where video serves as the primary product.

• Engage in an always-on livestream, automated broadcast clip ingestion, and player architecture tailored for high-demand breaking-news traffic.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in integrating and configuring enterprise video platforms such as Brightcove, JW Player, Mux, THEOplayer, or comparable systems.

• Profound knowledge of adaptive bitrate streaming, including HLS and DASH, and the implementation of device-aware playback.

• Proven experience in executing livestream workflows within a production setting.

• Familiarity with video processing principles such as clipping, transcoding, thumbnail creation, and caption/subtitle integration.

• Experience in integrating video advertising formats like VAST and VPAID, alongside video analytics.

• Capability to implement playback telemetry, error detection, and fallback strategies.

• Background in supporting performance and resilience assessments for high-traffic video delivery scenarios.

• Strong collaboration skills with CMS, frontend, and infrastructure teams.

• Experience in delivering video infrastructure for news, media, or broadcasting organizations.

• Knowledge of rights management, availability windows, and geoblocking execution.

• Experience with CDN setup for large-scale video delivery.

• Background in working on platforms designed to handle significant event traffic surges.

• Familiarity with DRM implementation including Widevine, FairPlay, and PlayReady.

• Experience with workflows involving poster frames, chapter markers, and structured metadata for editorial video.

• Legal authorization to work in the country where the position is located.

• Proficiency in English at levels A1-A2, B1-B2, C1-C2, or as a Native speaker.
