This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.
• Responsible for the design and layout of the United Nations World Water Development Reports (UN WWDR), specifically the Spanish version of UN WWDR 2026 (approximately 200 pages): Prepare and revise layout proofs based on the existing template.
• Complete the print-ready file by integrating feedback from WWAP and its partners.
• Create initial internal design proposals for the UN WWDR 2027 that align with the report cover, WWAP’s visual identity, and strategic objectives.
• Prepare layout proofs and finalize print-ready files for: Main report (in English and French versions; approximately 200 pages each), Executive Summary and Facts & Figures (in English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese; approximately 12–20 pages each).
• Redraw and vectorize figures and tables to enhance clarity and ensure publication readiness.
• Develop and deliver source layout templates (InDesign files or equivalent) to facilitate translations and adaptations.
• Handle the design and layout of other UNESCO WWAP publications. This includes the publication “EvaluaciĂłn de los ecosistemas acuáticos con perspectiva de inclusiĂłn social e igualdad en la cuenca del rĂo Amazonas” (approximately 200 pages): Visual concepts, layout proofs, and finalized version.
• Execute the design and layout for “EducaciĂłn HĂdrica – GuĂa para la formaciĂłn de lĂderes del agua en AmĂ©rica Latina y el Caribe” (approximately 100 pages): Visual concepts, layout proofs, and finalized versions.
• Produce a short video trailer for the UN WWDR 2027 and design layout for PowerPoint slide decks for WWDR 2027 launch events and key advocacy activities.
• Prepare email campaigns (e.g., Mailchimp) and create social media assets (cards, banners, animated snippets) to promote reports and milestones.
• Design layouts for event flyers, digital invitations, and e-banners for use in: Thematic or regional workshops and UN WWDR inspired capacity-building events, WWAP’s Multi-stakeholder Coalition events.
• Create infographics and data visualizations to effectively communicate key findings and statistics from WWAP reports.
• A university degree in visual arts, communication, or a related field is mandatory.
• At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in video and graphic design is required.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and After Effects.
• Experience with video and audio editing software, such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Logic Pro, or equivalent.
• Proven ability in designing print and web materials, as well as expertise in video editing and motion design.
• Strong command of the English language is essential.
• Competent in using both Mac and Windows operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office suite.
• Familiarity with the design and visual standards of the United Nations World Water Development Report series or similar UN publications is desirable.
• Knowledge of the UN system will be considered an asset.
