Vice President – Technical Architecture, Platform Architecture

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Enhance and advance the technical architecture strategy of the FICO Platform by defining and managing architectural principles, standards, and patterns that guide engineering teams in creating scalable, reliable, and high-performance platform solutions.

• Collaborate closely with engineering leaders to execute architectural initiatives throughout the delivery lifecycle, effectively bridging the gap between architectural vision and engineering reality to guarantee practical and achievable results.

• Lead modernization efforts for the platform, including cloud-native transformation, API strategy, and the evolution of microservices, while identifying and addressing technical debt that affects platform scalability and performance.

• Establish and uphold architectural governance frameworks, chair architecture review boards, and set KPIs that assess platform health, scalability, and technical alignment across engineering teams.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Cloud Operations, and Security teams to ensure that architectural decisions align with product roadmaps, infrastructure capabilities, and compliance requirements.

• Act as a senior technical thought leader within the engineering organization by staying ahead of industry trends and advocating for innovative architectural approaches that harness emerging technologies.

• Mentor and nurture architects and senior engineers, fostering a robust community of practice centered around technical excellence and enhancing architectural thinking throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as a senior platform architect with a proven history of designing, evolving, and implementing large-scale enterprise platform architectures in complex SaaS or PaaS settings.

• Demonstrated capability to drive architectural initiatives to successful implementation in close collaboration with engineering organizations, along with a strong record of ensuring that designs are practical, achievable, and delivered with excellence.

• Profound technical expertise in cloud-native architectures, microservices, distributed systems, and API design, with a solid hands-on background in AWS cloud services and containerization technologies.

• Proficiency in establishing architectural governance frameworks that balance consistency with engineering autonomy, along with experience leading architecture review processes that foster alignment across large engineering organizations.

• Exceptional ability to balance long-term architectural vision with practical near-term execution, making strategic decisions that have a significant and enduring impact on platform capabilities.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to convey complex architectural concepts to varied audiences and build consensus among technical and business stakeholders.

• Strong enthusiasm for developing architectural talent, with experience in building communities of practice, mentoring senior engineers, and enhancing technical capabilities across the organization.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
