This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee all underwriting operations and business outcomes for the Northwest Zone.
• Formulate and implement regional business strategies aimed at achieving profitable premium growth while upholding underwriting standards.
• Take ownership of regional production, profitability, portfolio management, and service targets.
• Track regional KPIs, submission processes, hit ratios, pricing adequacy, loss trends, and overall portfolio performance.
• Spot growth opportunities, market trends, and competitive factors to facilitate strategic decision-making.
• Act as the representative for the Northwest Region with executive leadership, providing regular updates on performance, opportunities, and risks.
• Recruit, nurture, mentor, and retain a high-performing underwriting team.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, urgency, and underwriting excellence.
• Conduct regular coaching sessions, file reviews, performance assessments, and career development discussions.
• Set clear underwriting expectations while reinforcing consistency, compliance with authority, and effective execution.
• Offer technical advice and referral authority on complex, high-profile, or large casualty accounts.
• Ensure the quality of underwriting, pricing adequacy, and compliance with company underwriting standards.
• Cultivate and enhance relationships with executive-level contacts at key wholesale brokers and strategic distribution partners across the Northwest.
• 5-10+ years of experience in commercial casualty underwriting, ideally within E&S or specialty insurance.
• Proven leadership experience in managing underwriting teams and regional operations.
• Strong technical underwriting knowledge with the capability to assess complex casualty risks.
• Demonstrated success in driving profitable growth within a wholesale distribution model.
• Solid understanding of portfolio management, pricing, and underwriting profitability.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building abilities.
• Strategic thinker with the capacity to balance growth, risk selection, and operational execution.
