Underwriter, Professional Liability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Underwrite complex and challenging new and renewal submissions in accordance with underwriting guidelines, making informed risk decisions that align with our growth and profitability objectives.

• Negotiate terms and conditions that are in line with our coverage-focused underwriting strategies.

• Promote our insurance products through various communication channels and occasional business travel.

• Cultivate mutually beneficial partnerships and maintain relationships with our appointed wholesale brokers.

• Track key metrics and ratios with a focus on efficiency and profitability.

• Contribute to the training and mentorship of less experienced employees.

• Engage in special projects and corporate initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of two years of Professional Liability underwriting experience with underwriting authority, ideally within Excess and Surplus (E&S) Lines.

• Extensive technical knowledge of professional liability, products liability, and other liability insurance lines.

• Established relationships within the wholesale broker community, demonstrating the ability to forge effective connections.

• Excellent internal and external communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and advanced problem-solving abilities.

• A strong emphasis on customer service to meet and exceed our best-in-class service goals.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not mandatory; relevant work experience will also be considered.

• RPLU designation or completion of other industry-related coursework is preferred, though not required.

• Willingness to travel occasionally to promote our corporate interests.
