Underwriter, Excess Casualty

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assess and underwrite complex new and renewal submissions while adhering to underwriting guidelines, making informed risk decisions that align with our growth and profitability goals.

• Negotiate terms and conditions that are in line with our coverage-oriented underwriting strategies.

• Promote our insurance products through various communication channels and occasional business travel.

• Establish and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships while nurturing relationships with our appointed wholesale brokers.

• Track key metrics and ratios with a focus on efficiency and profitability.

• Provide training and mentorship to less experienced staff members.

• Engage in special projects and corporate initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated underwriting experience with a focus on Excess Casualty.

• Extensive technical expertise in casualty and other liability insurance lines.

• Established relationships within the wholesale broker community and a proven ability to foster effective partnerships.

• Excellent internal and external communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Strong attention to detail, exceptional analytical abilities, and advanced problem-solving skills.

• Dedicated focus on customer service to meet and exceed our high service standards.

• A bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory, with relevant work experience being considered.

• CPCU designation or other industry-related coursework is preferred but not required.

• Willingness to travel occasionally to support our corporate interests.
