This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Direct the development roadmap for turbines and expanders, ensuring consistency with long-term system architecture, commercial viability, and manufacturability.
• Offer senior-level mentorship to engineers and technical contributors, assisting in shaping design methodologies, testing priorities, and integration strategies.
• Suggest best practices in the design of rotating machinery, material selection, thermodynamic cycle choices, and system optimization.
• Review and enhance thermodynamic cycle models, system assumptions, and performance forecasts.
• Provide recommendations on blade geometry, flow efficiency techniques, and integration between components.
• Assess alternative configurations for durability, maintenance requirements, and operational limitations in geothermal settings.
• Supervise prototype testing methods, including performance validation under realistic geothermal or steam-cycle conditions.
• Aid the team in establishing testing protocols, determining instrumentation needs, and developing risk-mitigation strategies for rotating equipment.
• Offer guidance on safety standards, mechanical integrity requirements, and relevant codes related to turbomachinery operation in geothermal and industrial environments.
• Advise on documentation and compliance requirements for initial pilot projects and field implementations.
• Assist in evaluating manufacturing pathways, vendor selection, and component sourcing for small-scale, high-efficiency turbine systems.
• Recommend frameworks for quality assurance and reliability suited for early production and scaling.
• Review technical documentation, such as design analyses, testing summaries, and risk assessments.
• Help create clear technical updates for internal stakeholders, external partners, and prospective investors.
• Utilize an established network in turbomachinery, geothermal, steam-cycle power, or related sectors to facilitate partnerships, pilot opportunities, and early adopter relationships.
• Provide senior technical representation in discussions with research institutions, industrial partners, utilities, and potential demonstration sites.
• Advanced degree (PhD or MS) or equivalent senior-level industry experience in mechanical engineering, turbomachinery, thermal sciences, or relevant fields.
• Over 15 years of experience with steam turbines, expanders, ORC systems, or comparable rotating equipment.
• Extensive knowledge of geothermal, waste-heat recovery, or thermal-to-power systems.
• Expert understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structural considerations, and the design of rotating equipment.
• Proven history of advising or leading engineering teams on intricate mechanical systems.
• Strong industry connections within the turbomachinery, geothermal energy, or thermal power generation sectors.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Capability to work independently and provide impactful guidance within limited advisory hours.
