Trust & Safety Specialist – Law Enforcement Response

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +17 more states.

📋 Description

• Comprehensive legal response record: Every legitimate subpoena, warrant, and court order is processed accurately and promptly — with thorough documentation that withstands Legal scrutiny and safeguards Instacart from compliance risks.

• Reliable law enforcement ally: Law enforcement agencies receive timely and policy-compliant responses to their data requests.

• Accelerated and efficient investigations: User identification and record retrieval for misconduct and safety investigations are performed with precision, reducing cycle time and enhancing results for Trust and Safety.

• Cross-functional trust: Legal and other internal stakeholders depend on you as the primary expert for LER policy inquiries, confident in your ability to convey complex legal and privacy issues clearly in high-pressure situations.

• Process stability: Emergencies and real-time safety scenarios are managed calmly and systematically, with documentation that facilitates smoother handoffs and future responses.

⛳️ Requirements

• Knowledge of legal terminology and the US and/or Canadian criminal justice system, including practical understanding of how subpoenas, warrants, and court orders function.

• Excellent written communication abilities — capable of crafting clear, precise responses to legal processes and articulating complex policies to both law enforcement and internal stakeholders.

• Ability to remain composed, systematic, and detail-oriented in high-pressure or emergency situations.

• Comfort in managing sensitive and confidential information with a high level of discretion.

• Proficient in Google Drive, Excel, or Google Sheets for collaborative efforts and basic data analysis.

• Genuine passion for law, policy, and privacy — with a desire to develop expertise at the intersection of these fields.

• Familiarity with relevant privacy laws and regulations (e.g., CCPA, PIPEDA, SCA) is advantageous.

• Practical experience using investigative tools to find and retrieve records from limited information is a plus.

• Previous experience in legal or privacy operations, including drafting or reviewing responses to legal processes, is a plus.

• Basic fluency in SQL and comfort with Adobe Acrobat or similar PDF tools is a plus.
