Travelling Wind Technician – Electrical

📋 Description

• Reporting to the Service Director, the Travelling Wind Farm Service Technician plays a crucial role in delivering operational support across our nationwide fleet.

• This position is essential for maintaining site performance, providing on-site technical guidance, and facilitating quick troubleshooting of intricate electrical systems.

• You will act as a liaison between site management, internal engineering teams, and our clients to ensure optimal turbine availability and fleet efficiency.

• Interpret the requirements outlined in GEV manuals, specifications, bulletins, and complete assigned tasks in line with GEV work instructions.

• Conduct and ensure the appropriate maintenance and troubleshooting of assets.

• Serve as the site HVOA Delegate when necessary.

• Designated as the High Voltage Operating Authority delegate for the site when needed.

• Execute high voltage switching operations in accordance with site procedures as required.

• Possess a working knowledge of electrical installation standards.

• Ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with the aforementioned documents, as well as the organisation’s SWMS, LOTO, and related EHS & QA/QC policies/procedures.

• Foster a positive reporting culture by promptly identifying errors, violations, incidents, or issues using GEV systems.

• Maintain an understanding of the responsibilities of the Registered Electrical Contractor (REC).

• Supervise electrical installation and maintenance work as necessary.

• Manage reports utilizing GEV’s various software management tools and databases.

• Immediately report any errors, violations, incidents, or problems through GEV reporting systems.

• Submit inquiries to Engineering to ensure technical issues are addressed.

• Collaborate closely with and respond to inquiries from Management, Engineering, Sourcing, and Service Teams as needed.

• Uphold and ensure Quality Control by making decisions regarding conformance or non-conformance upon completion of tasks and inspections.

• Participate in an on-call roster to work weekends and nights if required or as directed by management.

• Promote Safety by being knowledgeable of and adhering to all EHS policies and procedures relevant to the job while cooperating with GEV investigations and EHS audits.

⛳️ Requirements

• At a minimum, possess a registered Workers License Electrical (A-Grade or equivalent).

• Previous experience in the Onshore Wind sector or similar heavy industry (at least five years) is highly desirable.

• Be nominated as the Electrical Supervisor in line with the Registered Electrical Contractors license and hold the position of Nominated Qualified Supervisor - Electrical on behalf of the company.

• Understanding of basic AC/DC electrical circuits with the ability to troubleshoot and conduct circuit analysis (24VDC, 166VDC, 120, 230, 400, 575, 690VAC).

• Proven experience in High Voltage switching and operations.

• Possess a current High Voltage operating certificate or the ability to obtain one.

• Skilled in fault finding for electrical and hydraulic equipment.

• Trained to an intermediate level in computer skills.

• Must be capable of climbing wind turbines and performing physically demanding tasks at heights.

• Experience working in remote locations and independently.

• Willingness to travel over 65% of the year.
