This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Responsible for maintaining the Trauma Registry
• Extracts necessary information for the Trauma Registry and oversees the reporting of data to the Department of State Health Services Trauma Registry
• Exhibits expertise in the procedures essential for developing and sustaining the trauma registry database
• Manages and facilitates the identification process of trauma patients within the hospital data system using the EPIC data import
• Recognizes performance improvement issues and identifies trends
• Compiles data reports for the Trauma Committee, M&M, and trauma site assessments
• Conducts regular quality checks on data entry performed by registry staff
• Proposes opportunities and strategies for enhancing the registry system and/or services
• Completion of a Paramedic Training Program, Vocational Nursing Program, Diploma in Nursing, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree is required
• Necessary Licenses/Certifications: RN - Licensed Registered Nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact OR CSTR - Certified Trauma Registry Specialist by the American Trauma Society OR CAISS - Certified Abbreviated Injury Scaling Specialist by the Association for Advancement of Automotive Medicine
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in hospital trauma registry, coding, or clinical research, with at least 2 years specifically in trauma registry
