This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Conducting research and summarizing various elements of state and local transportation policies and operations to bolster our research and implementation initiatives.
• Composing policy studies, policy briefs, op-eds, and commentaries for Reason.org and other publications.
• Gathering and analyzing spreadsheets and datasets, and sharing insights with team members and other stakeholders.
• Monitoring legislative reform initiatives across various states and generating regular reports for the transportation policy team.
• Documenting and tracking various outputs for the transportation policy team, including legislative meetings, written materials, commentaries, and additional outputs.
• Engaging in coalitions that promote the Reason Foundation’s transportation policy agenda at the state level.
• Performing other duties as required.
• Occasional travel and attendance at several conferences each year are anticipated.
• Exceptional analytical abilities.
• Familiarity with or the capacity to swiftly learn data analysis and visualization tools such as R, Shiny Apps, and Tableau is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate complex ideas to non-experts.
• Understanding of state legislative processes and practices.
• A curious mindset and self-motivation to explore new concepts and address challenging technical issues you may not have encountered before.
