This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Oversee and coordinate daily transportation operations across the company's network in a proactive manner, collaborating with our Distribution Centers, carriers, and both corporate and field teams to achieve all service and cost objectives.
• Track and address any issues related to carrier performance.
• Adhere to established processes and procedures that outline activities necessary to meet company goals in the most efficient way.
• Build strong relationships with carriers to negotiate contracted rates, facilitate meetings, and communicate effectively to ensure accountability to expected KPIs.
• Accountable for ensuring on-time customer delivery by carriers and for adhering to transportation budget expectations.
• Manage service and cost performance metrics.
• Maintain and implement the transportation plan to minimize costs and meet customer service objectives.
• Engage in the development of both current and potential new carriers to fulfill customer needs concerning timeliness, quality, pricing, and ease of doing business.
• Preserve schedules, service levels, and rates for customer service, as well as carrier preferences and selection.
• Audit freight accounts and collaborate with Finance to verify payment accuracy, accruals, and GL coding.
• Drive continuous process enhancements through root cause analysis and develop improved operational and strategic responses to issues and opportunities.
• Establish and maintain suitable transportation standard operating procedures (SOP).
• Work in conjunction with Distribution Center and Inventory Management teams, offering guidance on transportation issues.
• Generate executive-level reports to convey trends and propose recommendations for cost savings or service improvements through thorough financial ROI analysis.
• Utilize tools effectively to optimize routes for the most efficient use of vehicles, labor, and fuel.
• Evaluate alternative transportation options and suggest the best solutions that balance cost reduction with maintaining or improving service quality.
• Engage in service and other enhancement initiatives to boost service reliability, reduce transit times, and/or lower delivery costs.
• Lead a continuous improvement project.
• Contribute as a team member to network design projects, including delivery service planning for new or relocated Distribution Centers.
• Participate in the selection process for new carriers, including bid inquiries, requests for proposals, and evaluations, along with cost/benefit analysis.

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• A minimum of five (5) years of substantial hands-on experience in logistics and/or transportation, including daily operations.
• Preferred experience with parcel shipping and specialized regional courier delivery carriers (co-ops).
• Exceptional presentation skills along with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Experience with ERP systems (such as JD Edwards), vehicle routing, and other relevant tools.
• Proficient in MS Office (including Access, Excel, and Word) and internet applications.
• Strong analytical skills are essential.
