This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Create and continually enhance a Total Rewards strategy that aligns with the business's objectives, culture, talent requirements, and financial goals.
• Develop and sustain a compensation framework, including job architecture, salary levels, market-based ranges, leveling guidelines, and career progression frameworks.
• Set up governance for compensation regarding job evaluations, benchmarking, offers, promotions, equity assessments, salary modifications, and range management.
• Spearhead compensation benchmarking and market analysis while delivering data-driven recommendations.
• Assist with annual compensation activities, including merit planning and sanctioned pay initiatives.
• Analyze compensation expenses, pay positioning, internal equity, and business impacts in collaboration with Finance and leadership.
• Manage health, welfare, retirement, and associated benefit programs.
• Oversee benefits renewal and open enrollment processes, including assessment, implementation, communication, education, system setup, and follow-up.
• Collaborate with brokers, carriers, administrators, vendors, Finance, and internal stakeholders regarding benefit plans and issue resolution.
• Administer work-life balance and wellbeing programs suitable for a fully remote environment.
• Oversee leaves of absence and workplace accommodation processes, including return-to-work procedures.
• Design and uphold employee recognition initiatives.
• Create career development frameworks and assist in development planning, internal mobility, succession planning, and talent discussions.
• Enhance the employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle.
• Act as a daily HR partner to managers on employee relations, performance issues, policies, organizational changes, and people-related decisions.
• Manage employee relations issues, conduct investigations, perform risk assessments, document findings, and suggest actions.
• Oversee and refine performance management practices.
• Guide managers on effective people leadership, handling challenging conversations, documentation, accountability, and consistent practices.
• Develop and conduct HR and manager training sessions and create resources for managers.
• Support onboarding and offboarding processes.
• Serve as backup for payroll and assist in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll procedures.
• Establish scalable HR processes, controls, workflows, documentation, and service standards.
• Aid in HR technology, benefits, payroll, and People-system implementations or transitions.
• Manage and assess external HR vendors and partners.
• Keep employee records and People data up to date, utilizing HR metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Remain informed on employment laws and apply approved updates to programs, policies, processes, and guidelines.
• Collaborate closely with the Director of People & Culture and take on additional People & Culture responsibilities as necessary.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with significant expertise in Total Rewards and comprehensive hands-on experience across various HR functions.
• Proven track record in designing, implementing, and managing compensation programs, including market benchmarking, salary structures, grades and ranges, job evaluations, and internal equity assessments.
• Experience in establishing or significantly enhancing job architecture, career levels, career ladders, lattices, or similar career development frameworks.
• Strong background in benefits, including plan management, renewals, open enrollment, vendor or broker collaboration, employee communications, and compliance aspects.
• Experience in managing leaves of absence and workplace accommodations.
• Extensive employee relations and performance management experience, including coaching managers, conducting investigations, documentation, and performance improvement strategies.
• Experience functioning as an HR business partner or HR Manager.
• Proven ability to develop and facilitate practical training and enablement resources for managers or employees.
• Familiarity with payroll processes and capability to effectively serve as a payroll backup.
• Experience in building, implementing, or scaling HR programs and processes in a dynamic organization.
• Strong understanding of U.S. employment laws and multi-state HR compliance.
• Excellent analytical skills for interpreting compensation, benefits, workforce, and program data.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• High level of judgment, discretion, empathy, and comfort in managing confidential information.
• Capacity to prioritize and execute multiple complex workstreams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Reliable high-speed internet access.
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship is required.
• Preferred: experience in a small to mid-sized high-growth organization; fully remote workforce; HRIS, payroll, benefits, or compensation technology implementations; partnerships with HR vendors; retirement plan management; professional HR or Total Rewards certification; experience in SaaS, technology, professional services, or multi-state knowledge-worker environments.
