This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Review title orders in accordance with company standards to assess the title's conditions and insurability by analyzing documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, mortgages, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, probates, and other recorded matters.
• Investigate relevant title plant software, assess and evaluate essential record documents to establish ownership, legal descriptions, and any connections to the title.
• Articulate the chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers and management.
• Identify title defects and develop appropriate curative solutions.
• Evaluate risks and liabilities that may threaten the company and report these issues to the local title manager, state title manager, or underwriter as necessary.
• Maintain consistent production levels and meet delivery standards on a daily basis.
• Collaborate closely with customers and management to fulfill time requirements for options and assist in addressing inquiries.
• Compile an accurate and comprehensive title commitment according to company examining and policy procedures.
• Execute additional tasks as assigned by the manager.
• Engage in special projects and various responsibilities as directed by management.
• At least four years of industry experience, including the preparation of title commitments.
• Preferred familiarity with title searching software, such as Ingenuity and County websites, among others.
• Previous experience in examining titles in the States of MI, OH, IL, IN, and KY.
• Understanding of underwriting policies and guidelines relevant to specified States.
• Knowledge of real estate law and procedures related to title and escrow curative actions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Organizational abilities and capacity to work within established timelines.
