Clinical Data Abstractor Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Analyze clinical data, identify trends, and report findings.

• Abstract and maintain comprehensive data from clinical records in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards.

• Address definitional issues and resolve discrepancies in chart documentation.

• Conduct timely validation checks to ensure high interrater reliability.

• Accurately disseminate medical-record data following the guidelines of governing bodies, algorithms, and protocols.

• Adjust to changes in registry and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with both internal team members and external vendors to enhance inter-rater reliability, data accuracy, and timely submissions.

• Contribute to specialized committee and work-group meetings aimed at process improvements and patient outcomes.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements, trends, and new methodologies.

• Review and address clinical data discrepancies or outliers found in completed abstracts.

• Communicate performance considerations and opportunities for improvement to relevant stakeholders.

• Report findings, opportunities, and trends to management.

• Extract information from medical records utilizing knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.

• Complete required certifications and exams as needed.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Minimum of one year of experience in healthcare or a related field.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Self-motivated individual.

• Ability to thrive in a team environment.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Openness to asking questions when needed.

• Strong critical thinking abilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with EPIC software.

• Background in database management.

• Familiarity with stroke patients.

• Experience in data abstraction.

• Capability to complete required certifications and pass necessary exams.

• Availability to work Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• No required professional licenses or certifications.
