This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Perform in-depth investigations of escalated SIEM and EDR alerts across client environments.
• Analyze, contain within your authority, and escalate issues following a defined pathway with clear, documented transitions.
• Create and enhance runbooks and standard operating procedures.
• Monitor and verify vulnerability findings using Tenable, ensuring they are routed into the appropriate workflow.
• Adhere to strict response and resolution service levels for every event and shift.
• Open, update, and close tickets with precise, auditable notes while maintaining organized shift logs.
• Clearly communicate with clients and the on-call lead during overnight incidents.
• Assist in monthly reporting by providing accurate event and response data.
• Must be a United States citizen.
• Capable of passing a drug screening and a comprehensive background investigation, including verification of references, employment history, education, and certifications.
• 3–5 years of experience in SOC or security operations, including practical incident investigation and response.
• Proven experience with SIEM alerting and EDR alert triage and containment.
• Strong understanding of networking and operating systems across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
• Knowledge of the incident lifecycle: detection, triage, containment, and escalation.
• Reliable ability to work overnight shifts on a rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
• Excellent written communication skills and disciplined documentation practices.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, CrowdStrike or similar EDR, and Tenable.
• Possession of Security+, CySA+, GCIH, GSEC, or a comparable certification.
• Proficient in scripting for triage or automation using Python or PowerShell.
• Prior experience in managed security services or multi-tenant SOC environments.
• Exposure to critical-infrastructure settings.
• Preference for residents in the Hampton Roads through Richmond, VA corridor.
