Threat Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee systems for customer-reported emails

• Evaluate phishing campaigns and associated threats to identify trends

• Collect intelligence from analyzed malware for distribution to customers

• Examine reported emails to ascertain if they are threats or harmless

• Detect malicious threats and offer customers mitigation strategies and guidance

• Initiate threat analysis tickets for email-related threats

• Maintain responsibility for customer tickets, including updates, communication, and documentation of resolutions

• Create rules, signatures, and descriptors for data-sharing and automation technologies

• Utilize malware analysis platforms and technologies to pinpoint malware infrastructure and tactics

• Aid in generating monthly reports for customers

• Identify opportunities for process enhancements to boost service efficiency and effectiveness

• Perform additional duties as assigned

• Report directly to the Manager of Threat Analysts

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of IT security experience or relevant security education

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred

• Proven experience in conducting phishing and malware analysis

• Certification in a primary technology provider or in Malware Analysis and Incident Response is preferred

• Familiarity with networking, operating systems, email infrastructures, antivirus software, and advanced threat detection systems

• Proficient with common end-user applications, web browsers, and productivity tools such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Basic knowledge of email protocols, headers, and formats

• Capability to apply critical thinking in threat investigations

• Ability to recognize when prompt escalation of malware review is necessary

• Willingness to learn new techniques for performing malware analysis

• Aptitude to quickly adopt tradecraft standards

• Capacity to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving methods

• Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational abilities

• Strong critical thinking and operational judgment skills

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting

• Willingness to work evening shifts as required

• Experience with Regex and YARA rule creation is a plus
