• Genesis Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is in search of a meticulous Remote Third-Party Liability (TPL) & Medical Records Specialist responsible for managing lien and settlement tracking, ensuring prompt processing of medical records, and proactively identifying pertinent cases across various platforms. This position is vital in optimizing revenue recovery from third-party claims while ensuring adherence to HIPAA and other healthcare regulations—all under our remote work guidelines.

• **Key Responsibilities: **

• **Third-Party Liability (TPL) & Lien Processing: **

• - Recognize new and existing TPL cases from multiple platforms (e.g., Epic EMR, insurance portals, legal request systems, and attorney communications).

• - Draft, dispatch, and monitor lien letters for personal injury, auto accident, and other third-party liability cases.

• - Track case status to guarantee timely communication regarding settlements, dismissals, or claim denials.

• - Collaborate directly with attorneys, insurance companies, and adjusters to gather necessary updates on case developments.

• - Keep accurate documentation and track outstanding TPL balances within Epic EMR.

• - Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific TPL billing regulations.

• - Assist in managing subrogation claims and reimbursement requests from health insurance carriers.

• **Medical Records **

• - Process, monitor, and fulfill medical records requests from attorneys, insurers, government agencies, and patients.

• - Confirm that requests comply with HIPAA, PHI privacy laws, and state medical records regulations.

• - Use Epic EMR to retrieve, review, and securely send medical records.

• - Identify relevant patient cases from various platforms to ensure all necessary records are processed accurately.

• - Manage subpoenaed records and coordinate responses to legal inquiries.

• - Maintain logs and tracking systems to ensure requests are completed promptly.

• - Address inquiries regarding record requests, fees, and processing timelines in a professional manner.

• - Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Epic EMR, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), insurance portals, and email management.

• - Knowledge Base: Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI, medical records processing, TPL/subrogation laws, and healthcare revenue cycle workflows.

• - Detail-Oriented: Capacity to track multiple cases, deadlines, and requests with accuracy.

• - Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with law firms, insurance adjusters, and healthcare providers.

• - Problem-Solving: Ability to foresee and resolve claim disputes or records compliance issues efficiently.

• **Preferred Qualifications: **

• - Experience in healthcare collections, personal injury claims, or legal billing.

• - Familiarity with lien processing, workers' compensation, and auto insurance billing.

• - Certification in Medical Records or Health Information Management (RHIT, CPC, etc.) is advantageous.
