This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +21 more states.
• Provide high-quality, evidence-based virtual care both asynchronously and synchronously.
• Review detailed patient intake information, including medical history, medication lists, and patient-submitted images, to ensure safe and suitable prescribing decisions.
• Perform comprehensive clinical assessments in accordance with Wheel's clinical guidelines, utilizing clinical snippets and workflows to customize education and treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications responsibly, ensuring compliance with patient eligibility, formulary guidelines, and safety parameters such as blood pressure ranges, contraindicated medications, and clinical red flags.
• Document each patient interaction using a complete and structured SOAP note, detailing the rationale for prescribing or referring, patient counseling, and follow-up recommendations.
• Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patients through secure messaging or live video consultations, exhibiting a professional and supportive demeanor.
• Refer patients to in-person care when clinical guidelines are not satisfied, documenting the rationale and providing clear instructions to patients.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards, incorporating feedback from regular chart audits and actively engaging in ongoing improvement initiatives.
• Escalate urgent clinical issues such as suicidal ideation or harassment as per platform protocols, ensuring patient safety and clinician protection.
• Collaborate with Wheel’s clinical operations team for onboarding, platform assistance, and guideline updates to ensure consistent, high-quality care delivery.
• Board certified physician in Family, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
• Licensing requirement: must hold 40+ active state licenses. Clinicians with the following licenses will be prioritized - TX, IN, CA, TN, MS, GA, FL, AR, VA, NC, MO, SC, AL, LA, IL, PA, OH, CT, NY, OK, WI, WV, MN, KY, CO.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in emergency, urgent care, or family medicine/primary care.
• Clinician must be adept in clinical weight management.
• Schedule requirements: Must work 36 clinic hours weekly from 8 AM to 8 PM CST, Monday through Sunday (1 weekend shift required per week).
• Availability for 4 hours per week dedicated to NP supervision work. Weekly clinic hours will be adjusted to accommodate supervision as needed.
• Capability to conduct both synchronous and asynchronous consultations.
• Experience with pediatric patient care is preferred.
