Telehealth Nurse

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Under the guidance of the Lead Telehealth Physician, the Telehealth Nurse is accountable for all clinical and administrative responsibilities assigned.

• Exhibits a strong dedication to Vikand’s vision and objectives of fostering a safer and healthier onboard environment through an early intervention approach utilizing dedicated communication platforms.

• Tasked with providing initial clinical triage, assessment, prioritization, and escalation of medical cases to guarantee suitable medical care for onboard crew members.

• Ensures adherence to all procedures, clinical pathways, and guidelines of OneHealth as directed by the Lead Telehealth Physician and other medical leaders.

• Leverages communication platforms to deliver high-quality patient care and medical services to crew onboard, encompassing urgent and non-urgent medical consultations, management of chronic illnesses, and follow-up consultations in accordance with flag state regulations and Vikand procedures.

• Performs structured nursing assessments to identify treatment pathways, clinical urgency, risk levels, and subsequent steps.

• Responsible for initial nursing evaluations, precise documentation, and effective communication. Provides first-line clinical care following clear guidelines under the direction of the Lead Telehealth Physician within the defined scope of practice.

• Offers support to crew members when discussing ongoing treatment plans and general health and well-being assistance.

• Ensures timely and effective communication and escalation of cases to the on-call telemedicine physician.

• Maintains accurate and timely medical records for each patient interaction in the electronic medical record system.

• Aids in the implementation of physician-directed treatment plans and conducts follow-up monitoring as directed.

• Guarantees compliance with HIPAA and GDPR regulations while preserving confidentiality for all patient encounters.

⛳️ Requirements

• Nursing degree

• Philippine Board-Certified Registered Nurse or equivalent

• Current ACLS certification is mandatory

• At least three (3) years of postgraduate nursing experience is required

• A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in maritime, offshore, or shipboard settings is necessary.

• Strong clinical and nursing triage knowledge is essential

• 3 years of experience in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, or Acute Care is preferred.

• Experience in telemedicine is preferred

• Familiarity with the International Convention of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW)

• Knowledge of the Maritime Labor Convention (MLC)

• Understanding of maritime regulatory bodies (e.g., CDC, Health Canada, ANVISA)

• Knowledge of HIPAA and GDPR requirements, with the ability to recognize, comprehend, and handle sensitive information confidentially

• Proficient in English (both spoken and written)

• Proficient in Microsoft Office

• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

• Competent in virtual consultation and telemedicine platforms

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative to work efficiently without direction
