• Manage telecommunications services from start to finish.
• Deliver information and communication technology services effectively.
• Assist users in processing requests for services such as local and long-distance phone lines that support essential life safety systems.
• Evaluate current network infrastructure and equipment to pinpoint areas for enhancement.
• Design and propose solutions that align with business needs.
• Aid in the installation, relocation, modification, and adjustments to the telecommunications infrastructure solutions created.
• Collaborate directly with clients and service providers to address service issues and outages.
• Review circuit order tickets and update them as the order progresses to keep clients informed (GSA).
• Consult with clients to understand the utilization of phone lines and determine if they are still necessary or can be disconnected (GSA).
• Coordinate and monitor site surveys, transitions, vendor meetings, repairs, technical issues, and rescheduling with GSA points of contact.
• Collaborate with clients and modernization contractors to collect and document technical and business telecom-related needs, recommending cost-effective solutions that comply with GSA IT standards.
• Assess PIAB & IPVS site surveys from MetTel for quality and accuracy before creating BOM or ordering equipment.
• Work closely with building managers and their operations and maintenance staff to prepare for service transitions or installations, providing guidance on electrical requirements for PIAB installations.
• Verify BOMs to ensure that equipment and provisioning plans are consistent with documented functional and solution requirements.
• Ensure services and lines are operational following installation or transition work - for instance, conducting testing and confirmations with GSA employees and building managers.
• Collaborate with vertical lift and fire protection subject matter experts across GSA to ensure telecom solutions like POTS in a Box (PIAB) adhere to their functional and code-related requirements.
• Engage with various GSA IT leads to discuss solution challenges or limitations and recommend improvements.
• Manage incidents by gathering details from customers, understanding pertinent questions based on problem descriptions and solution knowledge, performing initial troubleshooting as needed, and escalating to service providers or other support teams as necessary.
• Act as an escalation point for service providers during transitions or customer support interactions, offering guidance to onsite or remote technicians and devising creative solutions to complete tasks.
• Address various customer inquiries regarding telephone lines, report outages, and assist with incidents or service requests.
• Provide support, guidance, input, and documentation as needed to aid GSA's initiative to integrate the telecom inventory into ServiceNow and ensure its accuracy.
• Escalate issues to vendors and third-party entities as required and instructed by the Government.
Required Skills:
• Must possess a Public Trust Clearance by the start date.
• ITILv4 Foundation Training and ITILv4 Foundation Certification, which may be acquired within 120 days of hire.
• Demonstrates expertise across multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad, requiring creativity and innovation in task execution.
• Operates with considerable latitude in developing methodologies and presenting solutions to problems.
• Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
• Design or configure voice, video, and data communication systems.
• Oversee installation and post-installation service and maintenance.
• Proven ability to work independently in a fully or partially remote environment with limited supervision while potentially supervising or leading others.
• Capable of effective communication in both oral and written forms, demonstrating the ability to engage with all staff levels as well as clients.
• Maintain standard working hours as per the DIGIT contract and be available for meetings and collaborative efforts during those hours.
• Demonstrated capability to apply comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high-impact assignments, using practical experience and training to execute tasks.
• Proven understanding of building demarcations (demarcs) and telecommunication rooms (TRs), including connection methods (e.g., house pairs, risers, and building wiring infrastructure).
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with ServiceNow and Conexus platforms.
• General understanding of POTS, fire and elevator safety lines, VoIP, demarcation points, termination concepts including punchdown, bridges, CSU/DSU, etc.
• Proficiency in the Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Chat, Meet, Docs, Slides, Sheets), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Slack, and ServiceNow.
• Must be willing to work various shifts, including holidays as scheduled.
