This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Execute skilled technical tasks to support our projects while also providing leadership guidance.
• Responsibilities include removing and installing major components, executing electrical/mechanical retrofits, and carrying out commissioning activities.
• A Technician I may also mentor junior technicians, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, safely, and meets quality standards.
• Lead or assist in the execution of repower tasks, including drivetrain replacements, electrical and/or mechanical upgrades, and system checks.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues that arise during repower operations.
• Conduct electrical terminations, torquing, and verifications in accordance with upgrade procedures.
• Utilize SCADA and other diagnostic tools for operational assessments and post-repower validation.
• Create and complete all necessary documentation, such as work orders, checklists, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Mentor fellow team members in the use of tools, safety protocols, and technical procedures.
• Perform both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbines, utilizing skills in mechanics, electronics, and hydraulics.
• Participate in larger corrective teams focused on replacing major turbine components, including generators, main shafts, and gearboxes.
• Monitor and inspect work to ensure adherence to technical specifications and quality benchmarks.
• Address and resolve any issues that may arise during the installation or maintenance of components.
• Collaborate with construction managers, planners, and other on-site personnel to enhance work execution.
• Provide general project support, including organizing tools, managing parts, and maintaining site cleanliness.
• Engage in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), hazard assessments, and pre-task planning activities.
• Uphold company policies, safety standards, and effective housekeeping practices.
• Identify hazards to halt work and prevent accidents before they happen.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• An Associate degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Wind Turbine Technician.
• Valid driver’s license (NON CDL or CDL) is necessary.
• Competence in reading and interpreting documents, as well as following instructions such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance guidelines, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, provided with clear instructions.
• Capability to handle problems that involve at least one concrete variable in standardized situations.
• Must successfully pass a physical exam and drug/alcohol screening.
• Employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision capabilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, as potential work may occur in confined spaces.
• Employee must possess the physical fitness to free climb 300 feet multiple times a day while wearing over 25 lbs. of climbing gear and to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Must be able to execute rescues for teammates anywhere in the tower in case of an emergency.
