This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Compose, revise, and proofread high-level communication materials, including briefing documents, essential talking points, leadership presentations, and messaging frameworks for senior leadership within VHA.

• Assist in the creation and execution of the Strategic Communications and Engagement Plan, as well as sprint content calendars for both internal VA and external stakeholders.

• Prepare and refine bi-weekly executive briefing packages and monthly leadership and progress reports for the VA Program Manager and Contracting Officer's Representative.

• Collaborate with suicide prevention experts to produce clinically accurate, culturally sensitive, and Veteran-focused messaging.

• Create educational materials and digital resources (such as fact sheets, flyers, and educational toolkits) that enhance awareness of the Office of Suicide Prevention's strategic planning and the four Strategic Sprints.

• Align messaging across VA program offices to guarantee consistent communication regarding Strategic Sprint objectives and progress.

• Edit and review project deliverables — including project management plans, weekly progress and performance reports, ad hoc reports, and sprint closeout reports — for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and consistency.

• Ensure that all written materials comply with VA branding guidelines, Section 508 accessibility standards, principles of plain language, and health literacy guidelines.

• Craft narrative content to support infographics, data visualizations, and custom graphics for reports, dashboards, and stakeholder presentations.

• Assist with quarterly quality reviews and compliance reporting (Section 508 and VA branding) and maintain final deliverable files in both editable and PDF formats.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in technical writing and editing.

• A Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, public health, or a related discipline.

• Extensive expertise in public health, with the capacity to translate complex clinical and public health subjects into clear and accurate content.

• Experience in writing and editing for federal government clients; experience with VA/VHA programs is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements, plain language standards, and best practices in health literacy.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) for creating polished deliverables.

• Background in supporting intricate projects and transformative initiatives within the federal government.

• Ability to navigate complex client relationships with ease.

• Capability to manage competing deadlines across multiple simultaneous workstreams.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
