This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.
• Conduct research, compose, revise, and edit various written materials that support educational video production and public outreach efforts.
• Create and refine reports, articles, newsletters, brochures, pamphlets, guidebooks, training documents, fact sheets, reference materials, speeches, scripts, press releases, website content, and other communication products as needed.
• Convert scientific literature, clinical guidelines, and technical information into accessible language that is appropriate for public audiences.
• Assess written materials for technical accuracy, consistency, readability, grammar, style, and adherence to approved clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), clinicians, researchers, project managers, and government stakeholders to confirm the accuracy and thoroughness of educational content.
• Edit scripts and accompanying production materials to ensure alignment with evidence-based practices and established messaging.
• Implement Federal plain language principles and editorial standards to enhance clarity, accessibility, and audience understanding.
• Ensure that written products convey a serious, compassionate, and hopeful tone while addressing topics related to trauma, PTSD, effective treatments, and co-occurring conditions.
• Create content that is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and honors the diverse experiences of Veterans and other individuals impacted by trauma.
• Manage document review cycles and integrate government feedback while ensuring version control and editorial consistency.
• Verify citations, references, terminology, and formatting for accuracy and uniformity across all deliverables.
• Ensure that written materials adhere to relevant accessibility standards, organizational style guides, branding requirements, and quality assurance protocols.
• Assist public awareness campaigns, including initiatives for PTSD Awareness Month, by generating and refining educational and promotional communication materials.
• A Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Public Health, Health Communications, or a related field.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in providing technical writing and editing services pertinent to the requirements of this task order.
• Proven experience in producing and editing professional written communications for healthcare, government, educational, or scientific organizations.
