This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Take ownership of the comprehensive documentation process for Nabu Casa Hardware and Cloud, ensuring that all content is precise, current, and easily accessible.
• Strategically plan and produce documentation for new features, integrations, and releases in alignment with the product launch schedule.
• Collaborate directly with engineers to research and validate technical content, alleviating the documentation workload for the engineering team.
• Continuously review and enhance existing documentation by identifying outdated material, addressing gaps, and refining structure and tone.
• Establish and uphold documentation standards, style guides, and templates to ensure consistency and maintainability in community contributions.
• Assess and respond to documentation feedback from the community, support teams, and internal stakeholders to prioritize enhancements that significantly improve user experiences.
• Contribute to the developer experience by creating API guides, integration documentation, and contributor resources to support the OHF community and partner integrations.
• Monitor documentation quality indicators (such as support ticket trends and community feedback) and provide regular reports on these metrics.
• Exceptional technical writing skills, supported by a portfolio of developer or product documentation.
• Proficiency in reading and comprehending code (Python, YAML, REST APIs) to write accurate technical content independently without constant guidance from engineers.
• Solid understanding of smart home hardware and electronics, with the capability to troubleshoot basic issues autonomously.
• Experience with documentation-as-code workflows (Git, Markdown, static site generators like MkDocs or Docusaurus).
• High level of autonomy and self-direction, capable of identifying writing needs proactively.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, adept at efficiently extracting technical information from busy engineers.
• Five weeks (twenty-five days) of paid time off.
