
Technical Trainer – Electrical, Switchgear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, implement, and provide technical training programs for medium and low voltage OEM products (such as switchgear, MCCs, PDUs, and switchboards) aimed at both internal and external audiences.
• Facilitate instructor-led training sessions in the classroom, virtually, and on-site, focusing on product features, configuration, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Develop training materials, including slide presentations, instructor guides, participant workbooks, job aids, videos, and assessments that comply with IEM standards and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with engineering, product management, and service teams to ensure that training content aligns with current designs, codes, and best practices in application for medium and low voltage systems.
• Identify training needs by working closely with operations, field service, sales teams, and customers, transforming identified gaps into structured training solutions.
• Measure training effectiveness through quizzes, skills assessments, feedback surveys, and performance metrics in the field, fostering continuous enhancement of content and delivery methods.
• Assist in onboarding processes for new employees in engineering, manufacturing, field service, and sales with targeted technical training modules specific to their roles.
• Keep precise training records (attendance, completion, certifications) and aid in the development of competency frameworks for technical positions.
• Ensure all training highlights electrical safety, relevant codes and standards (such as NEC, NFPA 70E), as well as IEM-specific procedures and quality benchmarks.
• Support the creation of technical documentation and knowledge base articles for customers in collaboration with product and service teams.
• A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Engineering Technology, or a similar area; or equivalent practical experience in power distribution, switchgear, or electrical systems.
• Over 5 years of experience with medium and/or low voltage equipment, field service, applications engineering, or technical training within an OEM, EPC, or industrial setting.
• Solid understanding of power distribution equipment (including switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, MCCs, breakers, and relays) and fundamental power system concepts (such as protection, coordination, and grounding).
• Proven experience in designing and executing technical training, with the capability to tailor content for technicians, engineers, and non-technical audiences.
• Outstanding communication, facilitation, and presentation abilities, emphasizing clarity, engagement, and safety.
• Proficiency in commonly used training tools and productivity software (e.g., PowerPoint, LMS platforms, virtual meeting technologies).
• Preferred: Experience in OEM manufacturing or data center/utility/industrial settings; relevant certifications (e.g., NETA, NICET, or similar) are advantageous.
