Technical Support Engineer – Ops

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.

📋 Description

• Supervise multiple Linux hosting servers to guarantee peak performance and reliability.

• Detect and resolve malware infections, mitigate DDoS attacks, and address load-related challenges.

• Oversee and manage online backup solutions, restoring them when necessary.

• Implement best practices for security, including routine patching, vulnerability assessments, and active threat monitoring.

• Establish, configure, and manage hosting accounts according to client or internal specifications.

• Manage all tasks related to domain registration, including new registrations, renewals, and DNS record modifications.

• Handle all DNS Zone-related responsibilities (A, MX, CNAME, TXT, etc.).

• Administer a Rackspace cloud email environment for client email requests, including the creation of new email addresses, password resets, and mailbox setups on client devices.

• Manage an internal email server for company staff, overseeing email delivery, creating email accounts, resetting passwords, troubleshooting send/receive issues, and configuring email accounts on employee devices.

• Provide remote support to clients via Zoom or phone.

• Serve as the initial point of contact for employee computer-related issues.

• Conduct routine security audits, maintain firewalls, and review system logs for any suspicious activities.

• Collaborate closely with internal teams (Webmasters) to coordinate hosting and domain modifications.

• As needed, assist other internal teams and senior management in drafting talking points (for meetings and calls) and compose email drafts upon request concerning topics related to email and hosting servers.

• Communicate directly (via email, phone, and Zoom) with clients regarding inquiries, tasks, and frustrations related to email, domain management, and hosting.


⛳️ Requirements

• Ability to articulate technical terminology and concepts clearly to non-technical users (clients and employees).

• Advanced Linux Administration: Demonstrated experience in monitoring, securing, and maintaining Linux environments.

• Proficient hands-on knowledge of WHM and cPanel.

• Domain Registrar & DNS: Practical experience with domain management tasks, DNS configurations, and deploying SSL certificates.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, capable of effectively interacting with clients via Zoom, VOIP, and email.

• Email Infrastructure: Knowledgeable about IMAP, POP3, SMTP, and cloud email solutions (such as Rackspace or similar).

• Security-Focused Mindset: Strong understanding of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, malware prevention, and DDoS mitigation strategies.

• Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to efficiently diagnose and resolve technical issues across servers, networks, and devices.
