• Collaborate extensively with client platform and engineering teams to stabilize and enhance production environments.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for the client's AWS environment — assess, diagnose, and resolve incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.
• Take charge of alert management across CloudWatch, GuardDuty, Security Hub, and AWS Health.
• Manage the operational ticket queue (incident, request, problem, and change) and lead problem management efforts.
• Design, implement, and sustain scalable CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and provisioning.
• Administer infrastructure as code utilizing Terraform, CloudFormation, and CDK.
• Work with software teams to integrate and deploy backend services and containerized applications.
• Ensure adherence to relevant standards (ISO 27001, SOC 2, POPIA / GDPR) according to client specifications.
• Over 7 years of experience in Cloud DevOps, SRE, or AWS operational support, with a solid background in CI/CD and infrastructure automation.
• Practical experience in managing AWS supported operations — incident management, alert triage, on-call duties, and SLA compliance.
• Extensive AWS expertise: EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, VPC, Route 53, CloudFront, IAM (Identity Center), CloudWatch, X-Ray.
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform is essential; CloudFormation is a plus) — including remote state, modules, and multi-environment setups.
• Strong experience with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, GitLab CI, or Jenkins).
• Advanced scripting skills in Bash or Python for automation and tooling purposes.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, Helm is advantageous).
• Knowledge of AWS GuardDuty, Security Hub, and AWS Health alert management and triage.
• Experience with ITSM/ticketing workflows and structured incident, problem, and change management practices.
• Proficient in monitoring/observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar solutions).
• Understanding of AWS networking — VPC design, security groups, load balancers, DNS, and hybrid connectivity.
• Experience in secrets management (Secrets Manager, Parameter Store, HashiCorp Vault).
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices — SCA/SAST/DAST, vulnerability and compliance automation.
• Knowledge of AWS cost optimization, tagging strategies, and FinOps practices.
• Strong communication skills; demonstrated mentorship; experience in consulting/professional services across multiple client engagements.
• Minimum Qualifications: Matric (Grade 12) certificate; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience); At least one pertinent professional certification (AWS DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, CKA, or equivalent).
• Strong culture of continuous learning.
• Opportunities for internal speaking and sponsored technical events within the AWS ecosystem.
