Technical Solution Lead – Learning Technology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the learning-technology solution for a range of client programmes.

• Establish the approach and standards across various clients and platforms.

• Lead the solution development for new opportunities by assessing, sizing, and budgeting the work.

• Compose solution narratives and technical approaches, defending them during commercial discussions.

• Oversee technical scoping, architecture, and management of Moodle and Surge9 implementations.

• Ensure governance over platform plugin security, POPIA compliance, CI/CD, LTI, and interoperability.

• Integrate infrastructure, development, and data-visualisation partners into a cohesive system.

• Maintain technical quality across partners who are not directly managed.

• Collaborate with client leads to align learning-technology solutions with broader programmes.

• Work alongside the Product team on client solutions and the capabilities of the productised platform.

• Define solution components, success criteria, costs, required skills, and partner contributions for delivery.

• Enhance solutioning capabilities through method-sharing and coaching.


⛳️ Requirements

• 8–12 years of experience in learning technology, digital learning systems, ed-tech delivery, or technical solutioning, with expertise in large-scale learning platforms.

• Experience with Moodle is a must.

• Familiarity with Surge9 or similar enterprise learning platforms such as Totara, Docebo, or Cornerstone is a plus.

• Proven track record of managing a technical approach across various engagements or clients.

• Experience in client-facing solutioning or technical advisory roles, including working with senior stakeholders.

• Practical experience in scoping and managing platform implementations and governance.

• Knowledge of security, POPIA or equivalent data protection compliance, LTI and interoperability, and CI/CD.

• Experience coordinating infrastructure, development, and data-visualisation partners.

• Capability to architect and lead this type of work.

• Systems thinking ability to understand the connections between platforms, infrastructure, data, and content.

• Skill in mapping systems as blocks and their interrelations.

• Competence in translating ambiguous client needs into a structured architecture or measurable framework.

• Strong writing and presentation skills; adept at choosing between Word or PowerPoint based on the audience.

• Comfortable working with and leveraging AI.

• Ability to balance solution quality with commercial realities.

• A brief application note detailing an architected learning-technology ecosystem, including platforms, partners, and accountability.
