Technical Services Technician, Level 3 – Travel Required

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assisting with corrective maintenance and repairs on solar energy projects.

• Providing technical support and oversight for third-party repairs and repowers.

• Conducting site testing, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and energized electrical work while strictly adhering to company and industry safety standards.

• Proficient in cable splicing and medium voltage terminations.

• Maintaining a safe working environment by strictly following and enforcing company and industry safety protocols.

• Understanding, following, and communicating safety regulations and work procedures.

• Preparing accurate documentation and reports in a timely manner.

• Managing a crew that may include temporary employees (covering safety, job tasks, hours, QAQC, etc.).

• Completing tasks with the assistance of Technicians and Trainees.

• Simultaneously working on various projects.

• Effectively communicating with team members and onsite solar energy technicians.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or an equivalent qualification.

• Willingness to travel 80% of the time.

• Current NFPA 70e Safety Training certification or an equivalent credential.

• Proven ability to identify work hazards and mitigate them using appropriate tools and procedures.

• Demonstrated capability to work independently and safely under any conditions.

• Proficient in troubleshooting network and telemetry issues, including fiber optic cables.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and symbols.

• Skills to identify and isolate energized electrical sources to ensure a safe working environment.

• Proficient computer operation skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Excellent organizational abilities.

• Capability to provide estimates and project bids (covering materials, labor hours, and timelines).

• Ability to assess failures and compile detailed lists for estimates and reports.

• Willingness to work in remote locations under extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather).

• Availability for on-call duties (which may include weekends or after-hours situations).

• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and ability to operate a company vehicle.

• Confined Space – Entrant/Attendant/Supervisor certification.

• CPR/First Aid certification.

• Ability to pass SE safety second training and, if possible, substation switch person training.

• Training and certifications in equipment operation.

• Basic metal fabrication skills.

• Knowledge of Job Safety Analysis.

• Familiarity with Electrical Testing Standard Operating Procedures.

• Knowledge of the operation and selection of the following equipment: Ground Fault locator, Fiber optic testers, advanced skill sets such as Fiber optic splicing kits (OTDR), welding and metal fabrication, medium voltage cable splices and terminations, large crew management skills, TDR testing, IV Curve tracer, IR Camera and thermography, various cable crimping tools including string wire and feeder wire crimpers, and digital multimeter (1500V), 1kV Megger, Huck tools for tracker repairs and installation, and 5/10KV Megger Oil Test Set.
