This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Assist in Sanitation Programs at Fluid, Cultured, and Ice Cream facilities, necessitating around 70% travel across New York State and New England.
• Offer technical leadership and direction to Operations Quality, R&D, and manufacturing sites concerning sanitation, pathogen/environmental control, integrated pest management, new equipment design, installation, construction, and other food safety or quality initiatives associated with sanitation processes.
• Aid in the creation and execution of strategic sanitation programs, policies, plans, and processes to align with Hood standards and fulfill Food Safety requirements.
• Support troubleshooting of quality issues and conduct root cause analysis.
• Implement cleaning best practices to manage allergens and microbial control.
• Develop plant-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for equipment and processes.
• Ensure that SSOP forms and records are up-to-date and accurately completed.
• Report significant issues or developments discovered during plant visits and offer recommendations to management.
• Compile and present technical and program information to team members and management.
• Supervise technical and administrative staff involved in sanitation tasks.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of government and industry codes and standards.
• Provide education and technical assistance regarding corporate sanitation and food safety policies.
• A minimum of 5 years of Quality Assurance experience in both corporate and plant environments.
• A four-year degree is preferred, ideally a BS or BA in Food Science, Dairy Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
• Extensive technical knowledge in dairy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills, both in written form and delivery.
• Effective interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service (both internal and external).
• Proficient in computer skills (MS Office, BPCS, Formula System).
• Experience with regulatory, third-party, and customer audits.
• Proven ability to successfully tackle environmental sanitation challenges throughout the plant.
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience with various sanitizing applications.
• Certification or license as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) or achieving PCQI certification within 6 months of hire is required.
• General knowledge of food and environmental microbiological testing and preventative measures, including sanitary design and automated sanitation efficiency is essential.
