This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Take ownership and oversee the product backlog for storage service teams, which include block, file, parallel/HPC, and object storage.
• Lead and orchestrate cross-company efforts involving storage, focusing on data durability, performance, capacity, and cost initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and architecture teams to outline product requirements that pertain to data paths, consistency models, replication and erasure coding, as well as performance characteristics, while delivering new storage features.
• Make data-driven technical trade-offs regarding durability, availability, latency, throughput, and cost, and justify these decisions with empirical evidence.
• Collaborate with product marketing and technical pre-sales/post-sales teams on technical publications, go-to-market strategies, customer engagement, acquisition, and retention efforts related to storage.
• Ensure the provision of storage services that uphold high standards for durability, availability, performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, including support for AI/ML training and inference as well as HPC.
• Hands-on experience in developing storage products in the cloud is paramount: the candidate must have designed, constructed, or operated cloud storage services (not merely used or integrated them) in senior engineering, architecture, or technical leadership roles at hyperscalers, cloud providers, storage vendors, or other advanced technology enterprises.
• Profound understanding of the internal workings of storage systems: encompassing block, file, and object storage architectures, distributed storage, replication and erasure coding, consistency and durability models, and the read/write data path.
• Practical familiarity with technologies and interfaces such as NVMe/NVMe-oF, iSCSI, POSIX, and parallel file systems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS/Spectrum Scale, BeeGFS), Ceph, S3-compatible object storage, and RDMA-based data paths.
• Capability to quantitatively reason about IOPS, throughput, latency (including tail latency), and cost per usable TB, and to read and analyze benchmarks.
• Strong technical expertise in at least two of the following domains:
• Block storage and virtualization (volumes, snapshots, replication, NVMe-oF)
• File and parallel file systems for HPC/AI (Lustre, GPFS, BeeGFS, NFS)
• Internal mechanisms of distributed storage (replication, erasure coding, consistency, repair)
• Storage performance engineering and benchmarking
• Object storage at scale (S3-compatible APIs, metadata, multipart, lifecycle)
• Demonstrated success in delivering complex technical initiatives that require coordination among multiple teams or stakeholders.
• Experience in technical leadership is a significant advantage.
• While product management experience is not necessary, a strong willingness to learn and evolve into the role is crucial.
• Competitive compensation.
• Opportunities for career growth and learning.
• Flexibility and ownership in your work.
• A collaborative and innovative culture.
• Chance to work on significant AI projects.
• An international environment with talented teams.
