This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Provide leadership, guidance, coordination, management, succession planning, and support for technical and blasting services across the LLC/Region.
• Deliver advanced technical support for mine planning, blast design, post-blast analysis, blast optimization, and various blasting service requirements.
• Establish, nurture, and lead a team of technical representatives.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory agencies and compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular audits of blasts to assess safety, efficiency, and compliance.
• Be available at customer sites on short notice throughout the LLC/Region.
• Lead investigations into product complaints, misfires, fly rocks, and other blasting-related incidents.
• Facilitate the Blaster-in-Training program along with annual refresher training for blasters.
• Develop and maintain expertise in software and technologies relevant to technical services.
• Uphold drone certification standards and assist the team in achieving drone certification.
• Aid in the management of ordering, maintenance, and training for technical blasting equipment.
• Build relationships and foster internal networks with technical leaders across Austin Powder.
• Support manufacturing goals aimed at enhancing explosive product quality, performance, and profitability.
• Participate in customer performance review meetings.
• Comprehend local, state, and federal regulations governing agency rules.
• Stay informed on explosives industry news, events, trends, products, applications, and technical advancements.
• Contribute to responses for RFPs.
• Report directly to the LLC/Regional President/GM and serve as a member of the management team.
• Manage direct reports according to the size of the technical services team.
• Bachelor’s degree completed, ideally in Mining Engineering.
• Relevant experience may be considered in place of formal education.
• Over 5 years of experience as a mining engineer, blaster-in-charge, or in a related industry role.
• Capability to provide advanced technical assistance in mine planning, blast design, post-blast analysis, and blast optimization.
• Familiarity with company products and equipment utilized in blasting applications.
• Proficiency in leading and managing a team of technical specialists.
• Strong analytical, interpretive, evaluative, explanatory, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Willingness to engage hands-on with teams.
• Excellent communication, writing, and presentation abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Strong skills in time management and prioritization.
• Ability to organize various schedules, events, and meetings.
• Competence to train both internal and external stakeholders on blasting subjects.
• Ability to identify opportunities and develop enhanced services.
• Skill in recognizing industry trends and fostering innovation.
• Must possess a drone pilot license (FAA UAV Part 701).
• Capability to work in office, plant, and outdoor settings.
• Must reside within the LLC/Region.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% overnight.
