This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technical design, development, and implementation of extensive solution architectures from presales to delivery.

• Propel the execution of Distribution Automation, Process Bus Digital Substations, Cybersecurity, and Top-Down Engineering Solutions.

• Collaborate with business development and sales teams to assess customer requirements and convert them into technical specifications.

• Design and implement projects that involve protection relays, bay controller units, auxiliary relays, industrial computers, synchronizing clocks, telecom equipment, and software applications.

• Lead technical project activities from the design phase through to commissioning.

• Act as the primary technical liaison between customers and the project execution team.

• Facilitate customer kickoff meetings, clarify specifications, and conduct design reviews.

• Engage in project risk and opportunity assessments.

• Manage engineering man-day budgets and provide regular updates on progress.

• Work alongside the Project Manager on planning, risk management, and change requests.

• Review customer specifications and develop project technical documentation.

• Validate technical solutions with customers and ensure compliance with document control standards.

• Define software and IEDs while overseeing technical execution planning.

• Uphold adherence to GE Vernova safety standards.

• Address technical discrepancies and manage fault reports.

• Provide support to site engineers remotely or on-site.

• Lead Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.

• Coordinate with commissioning teams for significant site milestones.

• Deliver project-specific training to customers.

• Assist tendering and commercial teams.

• Ensure customer satisfaction through the professional execution of projects.

• Present solutions and assist with demonstrations, pilots, and proof-of-concepts for stakeholders, from field engineers to executives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Digital Protection & Control Systems or Energy Management Solutions design engineering for utilities and industrial sectors, ideally focusing on Grid Automation.

• Relevant experience in Electric Power Distribution Automation, Process Bus, Substation Digitization, Monitoring & Diagnostics, Asset Performance Management (APM), Device Management (DvM), or Cybersecurity Management.

• Skilled in designing and programming electrical control systems, including SCADA/HMI, cybersecurity, network equipment, IEC61850, and firewalls.

• Proficient in English.

• Willingness to travel 30% in the U.S. and Canada.

• Comprehensive understanding of automation electrical control systems, SCADA/DCS systems, and networking communication protocols.

• Experience with smart grid technologies and the integration of renewable energy.

• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations pertaining to Grid Automation.

• Certifications in relevant technologies, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional or Certified Protection Professional.

• Possession of a Professional Engineering license.

• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
