• Oversee the design and execution of intricate features or subsystems, which includes breaking down tasks, estimating required effort, and ensuring alignment with product and engineering objectives.
• Utilize advanced technical knowledge to tackle complex challenges, assess trade-offs, and direct architectural and design choices within a specific domain.
• Act as the main technical authority for one or more services or components, ensuring their reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product management, design/UX, QA, and other teams to define requirements, validate solutions with users or stakeholders, and prioritize customer needs in decision-making processes.
• Exemplify high standards for code quality and testing methodologies, including thorough unit, integration, and functional tests, while enforcing these standards through meticulous code reviews.
• Recognize and implement enhancements in tools, processes, and system design that boost engineering efficiency and product quality.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers through collaboration, constructive feedback, design evaluations, and sharing best practices to enhance the team's skill set.
• Offer technical insights into staffing, team structure, and work sequencing to ensure the successful completion of projects.
• Actively engage in incident response, root-cause analysis, and subsequent actions to enhance system resilience and improve customer experience.
• Clearly communicate expectations, priorities, and technical concepts to various audiences, adjusting the depth and detail as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline; or a comparable mix of education and experience.
• Generally, 7 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in leading the design and implementation of intricate features or projects in a production setting.
• Strong proficiency in one or more relevant technology stacks, with experience in distributed systems, APIs, data storage, and cloud services.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain coding, testing, and operational standards across a team or domain.
• Experience in mentoring fellow engineers, providing constructive feedback, and assisting in the development of technical growth strategies.
