This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Act as the top engineering authority for Directed Energy weapon system initiatives.
• Deliver technical guidance across the domains of electrical, mechanical, optical, and systems engineering.
• Define long-term R&D strategies, technology roadmaps, and technical direction at the program level.
• Supervise the design, integration, testing, and deployment of sophisticated Directed Energy subsystems and comprehensive weapon solutions.
• Address intricate technical risks and steer significant engineering decisions with enduring consequences.
• Create and implement advanced scientific concepts, theories, and architectures relating to Directed Energy technologies.
• Serve as the organization’s senior technical representative to customers, partners, and leadership.
• Shape new business opportunities by establishing technical strategies and showcasing system capabilities.
• Over 12 years of progressive experience in engineering and engineering management.
• Outstanding technical knowledge and strategic insight within Directed Energy or advanced hardware technology systems.
• Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams through complex programs.
• Established subject-matter expertise with a history of innovation, patents, publications, and/or new technology development.
• Proficient in communicating and influencing effectively at executive, customer, and engineering leadership levels.
• Strong decision-making abilities with a knack for motivating teams to address high-impact technical challenges.
• Self-driven individual with a robust work ethic.
• Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or Ph.D. in a related field.
• Familiarity with military standards and specifications.
• Understanding of all subsystems related to high energy laser systems.
• Established relationships with directed energy customers and industry stakeholders.
• Knowledgeable about the history of directed energy systems.
• Experience with directed energy systems from research and development to field support.
• Background in system safety, reliability, and maintainability engineering.
• Experience managing tasks within budget constraints.
• Expertise in risk management, including the development of risk registers.
• Experience working under Department of Defense contracts.
• Familiarity with modeling and simulations to create a 'digital twin.'
