This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead the creation of tailored software solutions for prominent law firms and clients in the legal services sector.
• Take ownership of architectural and system design choices for both new initiatives and ongoing projects.
• Develop and sustain features powered by AI and LLM technologies.
• Assess technical feasibility and estimate the effort required for incoming project requests and proposals.
• Keep abreast of advancements in AI and LLM within the industry and legal domain—be the primary resource for the team regarding possibilities and practical applications.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation—share resources, conduct experiments with new tools, and ensure the team effectively utilizes the latest technologies.
• Serve as a vital resource to the VP overseeing go-to-market strategies and the business's commercial aspects.
• Lead a team of 2-4 engineers, conducting 1:1s, supporting career development, performing code reviews, and balancing workloads.
• Uphold engineering quality standards throughout the team's projects.
• Recruit and onboard new engineers as the team expands.
• Maintain and enhance existing client projects and internal platforms.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and manage deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions, Terraform, Bicep).
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial role.
• Proficient full-stack development skills (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL).
• Experience in integrating LLMs into production environments.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to make architectural decisions even with incomplete information.
• Familiarity with agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex).
• Comfortable engaging directly with clients in a supportive capacity—capable of having technical discussions with stakeholders at AmLaw firms.
• Comprehensive understanding of contemporary engineering practices (e.g., code review, CI/CD, observability, automated testing).
