Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the technical execution of the CatalyX Blockchain Manager while actively contributing to the product codebase through implementation and conducting code reviews.

• Guide and mentor a geographically dispersed team of engineers, setting high standards for code quality, testing, and the pace of delivery through your own contributions.

• Decompose product and client requirements into well-defined technical tasks, estimates, and a practical sprint plan.

• Direct the technical investigation and resolution of critical issues, while capturing valuable lessons learned.

• Maintain engineering best practices throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Promote the effective and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools within the team, establishing guidelines for their application and the review of their outputs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience as a software engineer in a globally distributed development setting.

• Demonstrated experience in leading development teams while remaining an engaged, hands-on contributor.

• Proficient programming skills with a focus on Java.

• Deep understanding of distributed systems and enterprise integration patterns.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes.

• Strong SQL capabilities (PostgreSQL).

• Familiarity with OAuth/OIDC (Keycloak, Auth0).

• DevOps expertise in CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and observability.

• Solid grasp of networking fundamentals (TLS, DNS, load balancing, service-to-service communication) in distributed environments.

• Experienced in using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) with a discerning eye on where they enhance delivery and where they may introduce risks.

• Effective communicator capable of aligning engineers, architects, and product stakeholders.

• Experience with blockchain technologies such as Canton/Daml or other enterprise blockchain frameworks.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
