Technical Lead, Applications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Singapore.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the application engineering strategy and its execution across backend, mobile, and desktop platforms.

• Lead and develop a small, experienced applications team, comprising backend, mobile, and desktop engineers.

• Ensure production-grade reliability through observability, monitoring, retries, fallbacks, and effective failure handling.

• Define the architectural direction for AI-driven product workflows, APIs, and client integrations.

• Guarantee the integration of AI capabilities into the product with clear abstractions, predictable behavior, and graceful failure modes.

• Collaborate closely with Machine Learning leadership to convert model capabilities into deployable product features.

• Make significant decisions impacting latency, cost, reliability, security, and user experience.

• Foster a strong culture of execution through code reviews, design reviews, and active technical leadership.

• Ensure readiness for production by focusing on observability, monitoring, retries, fallbacks, privacy, and cost management.

• Strike a balance between speed and discipline—delivering quickly while maintaining long-term system quality.

• Extensive experience in leading application or product engineering for intricate systems.

• Strong hands-on experience in building and deploying backend systems utilized in production environments.

• Proven experience in delivering AI-driven products, with a solid understanding of the trade-offs involved in model integration.

• Exceptional system design capabilities across services, APIs, clients, and data flows.

• Comfortable operating across various platforms (backend, mobile, desktop), even if your expertise is primarily in one area.

• Demonstrated ability to make impactful technical decisions amid ambiguity.

• A strong inclination towards shipping, iterating, and learning from practical usage.

• Ability to move swiftly without compromising fundamental principles.
